The Coeur d'Alene Police Patrol Division is comprised of a Captain and two Lieutenants. Patrol operates in four overlapping shifts: Days, Swings, Power & Graveyard Shift. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant with Sergeants as field supervisors.
The Patrol Division operates 24-hours a day, 7 days a week and provides law enforcement services throughout the City of Coeur d'Alene. Patrol Officers respond to a variety of calls for service, engage in proactive policing, and conduct community engagement.
Patrol Duties
Officer response includes investigating reports of crime, compiling crime reports, and arresting offenders when necessary. Other activities include responding to and investigating traffic accidents, enforcing traffic infractions, and proactively working with the community to help deter crime.
Specialized units, such as the Narcotics K-9 Team, Community Action Team, Opioid Task Force, SWAT, Field Training Officer Program, Drone Team, and the Traffic Unit are under the command of the Patrol Division.
Patrol Sergeant
The Patrol Sergeant team consists of eight Sergeants. Each Patrol Sergeant is a well experienced member of the department who supervises their respective teams. Patrol Sergeants are responsible for setting daily objectives, training/development of officers, reviewing daily officer activity, and coordinating police events.
