Criminal Division
The Criminal Division of the Coeur d'Alene City Attorney's Office, also known as the Coeur d'Alene Prosecuting Attorney's Office, handles the prosecution of infraction and misdemeanor violations of Idaho state statutes occurring within City limits, as well as all violations of the Coeur d'Alene Municipal Code. The Criminal Division works closely with the Coeur d’Alene Police Department and other law enforcement agencies in prosecuting the offenses within its jurisdiction.
The Criminal Division also assists the Civil Division in matters involving criminal laws and ordinance enforcement, and it provides assistance on general civil matters whenever the need arises and time permits.
The Criminal Division practices “vertical prosecution.” This means that one attorney in the office is assigned to a case from start to finish. Cases are assigned to attorneys alphabetically by the defendant’s last name as follows:
