Off Duty Employment

Coeur d’Alene Police Officers may be contracted by private entities to provide limited public safety services, including security and traffic control, under approved agreements. These arrangements allow officers to work in an official capacity outside their regular duty hours while remaining subject to departmental policies, supervision, and applicable laws.

  • Contracted services include uniformed police presence for security/deterrence.
  • Contracted services include traffic control for special events or construction projects.
  • Officers performing contracted duties retain full law enforcement authority.
  • All contracted work must be conducted in accordance with department policy and local and state law.
  • Private entities requesting contracted services are responsible for all associated costs.
  • These agreements ensure no financial burden is placed on the public.
