Planning and Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission is a council appointed seven member volunteer board that plays a major role in nearly all aspects of the local planning process. The Commission seeks to promote orderly growth, preserve the quality of Coeur d'Alene, protect the environment, promote economic prosperity, protect property rights, and foster the safety of its residents. Additionally, the Commission promotes the public interest by helping citizens understand the planning process and providing opportunities for public comment.
The Planning and Zoning Commission's duties include:
- To recommend and make suggestions to the council for the adoption of coordinated plans for the physical development of the municipality
- To review proposed development requests according to the procedures and standards set forth in the Zoning Ordinance and other municipal codes
- To recommend the boundaries of zoning districts and appropriate regulations to be enforced therein, make reports, hold public hearings and perform all other duties as may be prescribed by the Idaho Code and the City Code
- To serve as the development impact fee advisory committee performing all duties prescribed by the Idaho Code
- To comply with all city policies, procedures, and regulations

Meeting Date
The Planning and Zoning Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Library Community Room, 702 East Front Street.
All meetings are open to the public and publicized to allow and promote public participation in the decisions of the Commission.

*Please note any final decision made by the Planning and Zoning Commission is appealable within 15 days of the decision pursuant to sections 17.09.705 through 17.09.715 of Title 17, Zoning.
